Our hands are the most accessible appendage that we have to steady our cameras while we shoot. Hmm…pretty dumb statement as we can’t use our feet. Anyways, we can’t bring tripods most of the times on shoot as there would be instances that we’d just be shooting casually. Since most of us shoot casually, it would be good if we can get hand-holding technique right. Read the rest of this entry »

Ever since Kodak and Nikon introduced the 1st DSLR in 1991 (Kodak DCS-100), photography enthusiasts drooled over the day when they’d be able to lay their shutter-happy hands on a DSLR. The development of DSLRs have gone leaps and bounds since then. We now have full-frame sensors with multiple-point autofocus that also provides the user the ability to shoot movies. So where is DSLR technology going? Let me ponder on that a bit. Read the rest of this entry »

Canon EOS 3000v

Our cameras are great pieces of technology. These babies support our passion for capturing special moments and interesting subjects, whether on film or on electronic sensors. If there’s an occasion to celebrate or even if it’s just a trip to the mall, a lot of us almost always grab our cameras to take pictures of memorable moments to freeze them in time. “What’s your Message?”

11 10 2008

Talk shows abound on local (Filipino) media today. TV or radio, one or two talk shows are broadcasting daily, especially showbiz talk shows. All talk shows present “sensational” stories most of the time straight out of their guest’s mouths. Each and every time, the host (straight or gay) asks what’s the guest’s message is. Film is Dead….

7 10 2008

…NOT!!!!! Why do hard-core digital camera fanboys always trumpet that film is dead? I mean I’ve been hearing this argument since the introduction of the Kodak DC40 in the mid-1990s. I got into a heated argument late last night with a bozo who butted into a conversation a friend and I are having over film cameras – and gawd almighty, he didn’t know what the hell he was talking about!
